 After a lull during the election period, violence has escalated, with insurgent attacks killing scores of Iraqis. On Thursday, 11 U.S. troops -- eight soldiers and three Marines -- were among about 140 people killed in attacks across Iraq, military officials said. It was the deadliest day in Iraq in nearly four months. |
