The National Football League is committed to giving back to communities across the country. The NFL's outreach initiatives include national support programs such as the United Way partnership and Community Quarterback volunteer award, recognition programs such as the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and the NFL Teacher of the Year, and Super Bowl and Pro Bowl event-based outreach initiatives.
The NFL also responds to national needs. The NFL's One World educational classroom curriculum is a perfect example. Like so many of us, we found that children didn't know how to make sense out of the September 11th tragedy. Through a partnership with Scholastic Inc., the NFL and NFL Players Association funded the development of an educational program that walks youngsters through issues such as diversity, cultural awareness and community. The One World program is free to teachers, parents and anyone else interested in helping students better understand themselves, their peers, and the world around them.
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue talks about the NFL's commitment to public service.
