| | | The County Council does not have a licence to provide Ordnance Survey maps to the public. The public can purchase most popular small scale maps such as the 1:50,000 colour series from good bookshops and small areas can be accessed on the Web.
More detailed maps such as the 1:10,000 and 1:2,500 scale showing individual buildings etc are available from Ordnance Survey themselves or through their agents. Their Web site offers a whole range of services- the address is www.ordsvy.gov.uk
Some of the main libraries in Dorset have a computer based mapping system called "Mapview". From this system the public can print one A4 piece of detailed mapping for personal research. It is best to contact your local library to check availability.
People requiring detailed maps for planning applications should contact their local District Council. The District Council should have a licence from the Ordnance Survey enabling them to provide areas of mapping (at a cost).
LEA schools may be supplied with copies of digital mapping held by the County Council. For further information please contact Steve Spring, by email | |
