The Dorset Environmental Databook is a recent publication produced by the County Council in conjunction with the Environment Agency.

Public interest in environmental matters has never been higher, but informed action and debate is often hindered by difficulties in obtaining reliable local data.

Many of the statistics presented here are already available from the Council and the Environment Ageny in technical reports. The Databook, however, draws together a broad range of topics relating to Dorset's environment and presents the information in an accessible format with a brief summary on each subject.

Our aim is to continue to provide relevant environmental information and would welcome suggestions for additional data to be included in future editions- as well as any other comments you may have on the Dorset Environmental Data Book, 1999.

Please e-mail me, Mark Simons with your comments.

To gain a picture of Dorset's environment in relation to the South-West Region as a whole click here to visit the South-West Regional Observatory Site. Here you will find the recently published report on the state of the environment in the South-West of England
