:''This article is about the American band Death Threat. For the action, see Death_threat.'' {{inappropriate tone}} '''Death Threat''' is an American hardcore band formed in Connecticut in 1997. Death Threat is composed of former Hatebreed members. Aaron Butkus is the lead vocalist. CJ co-founded the band and wrote most of its songs prior to leaving the band. Other members include Wes and Bill. ==Style== Hardcore music is frequently considered to be as much a lifestyle as an artistic genre. However, an interest in solely Aggro music and little else outside the realm of brutal power-chords can not only be limiting, it can quite simply be boring. Death Threat, seen by many as one of the most urgent, ferocious bands under the hardcore umbrella, are committed to the hardcore lifestyle. ''Peace_and_Security'', their full-length debut in 2000, demonstrates that these Connecticut boys are well versed in hardcore history from the Cro-Mags onward. However, their new record, ''For_God_and_Government'', is less focused on strictly hardcore music, showing a broadening of scope by Death Threat, opening the way for a "fun" album. ''For_God_and_Government'' is harsh, driving, and urgent, but at the same time catchy and just melodic enough to be humble. ==History== Continuous touring with internationally acclaimed acts like Blood_for_Blood, Vision_of_Disorder, Agnostic_Front, and Hatebreed, the band was quickly establishing itself as one of the premier hardcore bands in the nation, and one of the biggest hardcore groups in the northeast United States. The music was intense, the sound was punishing, and the kids absolutely gobbled the stuff up. After Death Threat’s original Drummer quit the band, Butkus found himself not only replacing his time-keeper but also finding a permanent bassist as well, as CJ had played guitar and bass tracks on ''Peace_and_Security''. Then, under the strain of touring, CJ informed Butkus that he was parting ways with what was left of Death Threat-—at this point Butkus and whoever he could get to come on tour with him, including a variety of figures in New_England aggro music. The future for Death Threat looked bleak, ironically just as they were achieving a high level of success. In an attempt to salvage the band, Butkus assembled another crew of musicians to back him for tours around the country over the next few months—including a spot on the European stint of the Unity Tour featuring Agnostic_Front—as well as record another album for Triple_Crown_Records. Thus, Death Threat is back, having expanded their gaze past hardcore and onto the broader spectrum of punk rock, and created what is sure to be one of the best aggressive rock and roll records of 2002. ==Discography== ===Albums=== *1998 - ''Last_Dayz'' *2000 - ''Peace_&_Security'' *2002 - ''For_God_and_Government'' *2004 - ''Now_Here_Fast!''
