Current Conditions

ONGOING FIRES AND EMERGENCIES

Some fires are still active on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and adjacent lands (See update with road and trail advisories)

Two Color Trail #1932 and its segments to include Bennett Peak Trail are closed due to public safety hazards.

 

Trail closures associated with the Granite Complex in Idaho

Idaho side :

Beginning today, due to the potential for high fire activity, the following area has been closed to public entry in the Seven Devils area of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area: The area west of a line from Horse Heaven going north to Windy Saddle along the hydrologic divide in the Seven Devils area. The closure continues from Windy Saddle north to Heavens Gate Lookout along the ridge, then along Boise Trail 101 north to the Low Saddle area and along the wilderness boundary west to the Snake River . The Boise Trail #101 south to Horse Heaven remains open.

Trail and area closures associated with the Fly Fire

Road Closure
FR 5160 is closed from Hwy 244 to Sheep Creek at the junction of 5160 and 5182.
FR 5155 is closed from the 5160 junction east to Blue Springs (5155-385).

Area Closure
The area closure is in place for the public lands east of FR 5160, south of FR 5155, north of Sheep Creek and west of FR 5100 between Sheep Creek and FR 5155.
- Public land east of the fire may be accessed via the 51 Road
- Umapine CG is open but is accessible via the Winom-Frasier OHV trail system only
- The Umapine and Lookout/Little Fly OHV trails are closed to public use north of the 5160 Road.

Public Use Restrictions

Public Use Restrictions on the use of campfires, smoking out-of-doors, motorized travel, and use of combustion engines, such as chainsaws and generators. (See details)
