Europe can sing "Take Me Out" this Fall

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced today that the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld will be released in Europe on September 9, 2005. Similar to the U.S., the PSP will only be available in a Value Pack that includes the system itself, a pouch, 32MB memory stick, battery pack, headphones with remote control, AC adaptor, and a video/music/game sampler universal media disc (UMD) including some non-interactive game demos. Spider-Man 2 on UMD does not come packaged with the Value Pack; instead interested PSP owners must register their PSP at yourpsp.com.

"PlayStation Portable will revolutionize portable entertainment, giving users the freedom to play full 3D games, watch movies, listen to music and connect wirelessly on their terms, wherever and whenever they wish to do so," said David Reeves, President of SCEE. "More than ever, today's consumer demands access to their personal entertainment outside the home, without compromising quality. With more than 100 PlayStation Portable game titles currently in development worldwide, and the ability to download and listen to music, and view feature films with breathtaking screen quality, PlayStation Portable lets users control their entertainment options, all in a single package."

The PSP Value Pack will retail across European PAL territories for the price of €249 ($324) and £179 ($342) in the U.K.
