Columbia University The retina is the most accessible part of the central nervous system for genetic manipulations. Our newly renovated laboratory at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University is developing strategies for the prevention or delay of retinal degenerations (Tsang S.H.,et al Science 272: 1026-1029 Tsang, S. H., et al, Science. 282, 117-21). Other interests include cell fate determination in the mammalian retina.

Required qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a field related to molecular biology/biochemistry
  • Ability to think independently and work cooperatively
Preferred experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Working with BACs
  • Enzyme Kinetics
  • Working with transgenic MICE
  • Southern, Northern, Western, PCRs,
  • Preparation of in situs
  • Immunostaining
  • Microscopy
