Normally, I'd pass on a book about Ozzy Osbourne. I love Ozzy's music but everybody and there brother have written about him. This book however is a must have for any fan of Ozzy but more importantly it's a must have for any fan of music from the late 70's through the early 90's. This book is the story of Ozzy's solo career as told through the eyes of his various band members over the last 20 or so years. Fans of this style of music will be in shock when they see the inner workings of Ozzy's career. As important as who has publicly played in Ozzy's band is who has played or helped form each incarnation of the band behind the scenes. There are some surprising names here that you will learn played a big role in getting Ozzy where he is today. I can't say too much because it would give away the good stuff, and most of it is good stuff. Who writes Ozzy's songs? How does he always find great guitarists? How much of a role has Sharon really played? Where did Zakk Wylde go in the 90's (this is a great find!)? Where did Jake E. Lee go? How are Dana Strum and Steve Vai connected to Ozzy? All this and more is what you'll find here. On the downside, this is a poorly edited book at best as far as spelling, grammar, etc go. I'm not a stickler for that particularly but there is even a chapter that ends in mid sentence with the word "is". All in all though, who cares? This information is too great to pass on.
