An investigation is under way into allegations of abuse by staff at a care school for children, police have confirmed.
Strathclyde Police are understood to be probing claims that pupils at the
Kibble Education and Care Centre in Paisley were physically abused.
A similar probe was launched two months ago at Kerelaw School in Ayrshire.
Kibble's chief executive, Graham Bell, says there is no truth in the allegations against his staff.
A police spokeswoman said on Sunday: "We can confirm that police in Paisley are
investigating allegations made to police.
"There have been a number of various
types of allegations made and inquiries are continuing.
"In relation to Kerelaw, inquiries are continuing which may take some time."
Mr Bell said he welcomed any investigation into the allegations which he believed "to be untrue, malicious and offensive" to the staff at Kibble.
He added: "We are happy to co-operate fully with the authorities.
"Various statutory bodies regularly inspect Kibble and only four weeks ago we were inspected by the Care Commission who have given us positive feedback.
"The reputation of Kibble has been built on integrity, compassion and
transparency of the staff here. I am confident our reputation will remain intact
and look forward to the result of the police investigation."
