Dayside w/Linda Vester
August 02, 2004
Bold Action!
Three minutes into today's (August 2, 2004) Dayside w/Linda Vester, Fox went to a live briefing at the White House with Bush's Chief of Staff Andy Card and Nat'l Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. (The two other 24-hour cable news networks, MSNBC and CNN, did too.) The briefing was called to discuss new anti-terror proposals being made by "the President" in response to the 9/11 Commission's report.
After near wall to wall fear mongering this morning on American television stations, Card talked about meetings that have taken place over the past several days at the White House concerning recommendations made in the 9/11 Commission's report.

"Candidates' Wives" (Minus a Few)
The Democrat bashing continued today (July 30, 2004) in the second half of Dayside w/Linda Vester. Returning from a break at 1:33 p.m. ET, Fox ran a clip of David Letterman making fun of John Kerry and then a clip of Jay Leno making fun of John Edwards. Then to Vester to introduce the guests to talk about "the candidates' wives." (See, "See, These Guys Don't Miss a Beat" in the Dayside w/Linda Vester category, posted July 30, 2004.)
Vester introduced Monica Crowley, "Republican strategist," (and on the Fox payroll), Deadre Levine, "Democratic strategist," and Kristen Powers, "Democratic strategist."

At 1:30 p.m. today (July 30, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester, as Vester headed to a break, she promoted an upcoming segment about "candidates' wives." Obviously, this would include Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney. Yet, in the promo, though video of Laura Bush was shown, Vester said: "Does Teresa Heinz Kerry make you want to vote for her husband? Does Elizabeth Edwards" make you want to vote for hers? We're examining the candidates' wives, next.
No skeptical words about Laura Bush or Lynne Cheney here. Fair and balanced?
Democrat Bashing Lite
The second segment on Dayside w/Linda Vester today (July 30, 2004), consisted of more Democrat bashing, couched in a lighthearted vein.
Vester's guest was Foxnews.com columnist, Roger Friedman. Vester introduced the segment by saying: "Lets get to the silly stuff" that happened in Boston.
Friedman proceeded to insinuate that Vanessa Kerry and Ben Affleck are an item (that liberal Hollywood thing again). From there he went to Larry David and his wife Laurie David.

At 1:04 p.m. ET today (July 30, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester, Vester hosted two guests, Tammy Bruce, "Fox News Contributor" and radio talk show host, and Dan Gerstein, Fmr. Joe Lieberman Communications Director. The alleged subject matter of the segment was whether conventions are a waste of time.
Gerstein started off by saying the Democratic convention was an "mmo," a "massive missed opportunity."
