JPE is a peer reviewed journal begun in 1994 that welcomes submissions in English, French and Spanish from a broad range of disciplines and hopes to encourage research into the linkages between political economy and human environmental impacts. It is provided free and supported by the Political Ecology Society (PESO)

JPE is produced at the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology and is available through, as well as archived at, the University of Arizona Library, Tucson, Arizona. Paper reprints are available at all times and JPE's copyright notice allows multiple copies to be made.

Some Notes on Formatting

The issues available for downloading are in either Adobe PDF, postcript, html or ascii format. While ascii format does not include graphics or fonts, it, like the PDF and postscript versions, does show official pagination - something not feasible in the html version..

Note on foreign characters in ascii files: extended ascii is displayed variously by browsers and other interfaces. All files have the accents correctly inserted even if your display does not display them properly. When downloaded they should display correctly on most systems. These characters are actually in the ISO latin version of the extended ascii character set if you need to convert them on your own system. For the official version please view the Adobe PDf file.

Adobe PDF format isnow the official version but requires the ability to read Adobe PDF (.pdf) files. A postscript viewer can be obtained at Ghostscript. Other viewers are also available through various search engines. This is not an endorsement of any particular products.

Adobe PDF readers are widely available and are free. To obtain a PDF reader, please click here to get the Acrobat Reader.
