News

During the closing session of the LSM, Member of European Parliament Gilles Savary took position against software patents. See the press release of association APRIL about this topic (in French).


During the LSM took place the creation of the African Association of Libre Software Users [in French].


The proceedings of the LSM are being synthesized, and will be available on line.


You are interested by libre software but you are not a coder?
The public sessions are made for you! (in French)


The Agence Intergouvernementale de la Francophonie supports the LSM and funds the transportation of delegates from Southern and Eastern countries.


The Multimedia branch of Eutelsat will record and broadcast by satellite some sessions of the LSM. These recordings will be made available to the libre community.


The general schedule of the LSM is now available, as well as information regarding accomodation and how to find the ENSERB.

The LSM

From July, 5th to July, 9th 2000 will take place near Bordeaux the first Libre Software Meeting, at the ENSERB, on the campus of the Université Bordeaux I, France. This meeting is organized by the ABUL ("Association Bordelaise des Utilisateurs de Linux et des Logiciels Libres", that is, the "Linux and Free Software User's Group of Bordeaux").

The goal of the Libre Software Meeting is to set up a single place where as many people as possible will be able to share information and gather their energies towards large scale projects. It is open to every people willing to contribute to "libre" software : project leaders, developers, translators, advanced users, etc. This event is absolutely non commercial: participation is free in every meaning of the word.

In the mean time will also take place events dedicated to a larger audience, including demonstrations and workshops on the interest of libre software for education, for instance.


Organisation

A diffusion list has been created for every people that wish to contribute to the organisation or obtain information regarding the LSM. To subscribe to it, send an e-mail to sympa@lsm.abul.org, with body:"subscribe lsm". You can send your e-mails to the list at lsm@lsm.abul.org.


Program

The LSM are organized as a set of thematic sessions that take place within a general schedule. All of these informations is available from the Program thumb-index in the site fillet.
If you wish to actively participate in organizing a topic session, or propose a new sub-topic, please refer to section Selection of topics of the topic list page.
