W hen Peggy Shaw first decided to perform in drag as a man, she wondered whom to portray. Men who dressed as women had flamboyant characters such as Liza, Cher and Madonna to emulate. That wasn't for her.

It sounds like Santa, the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy have all arrived early for Anchorage's rock 'n' roll kiddies: Delmag is playing its first all-ages show in nearly a year.

Not everyone has the patience to start vegetable seeds in early February knowing at the outset that plants cannot be safely planted until mid-April at best and more probably not until early May. Besides patience, you will need to have a set of good lights and you'll have to pay attention to your plants all the way through the process that ends only when you can transplant them outdoors.

HAINES -- On Super Bowl Sunday, we always watch the game and visit with friends near and one very far. This year, I thought about Alex more, especially during the halftime show. All that noise and skin made me nostalgic for the good old days of bad country singers and fully clothed marching bands. It is hard to believe I was only 26 the last time I saw Alex.
