In the early 50s, the building of the main administrative block of the Academy of Sciences was erected on the project of V. Mednek and A. Vedenkin in the southern part of the future Square of Liberty. The strictness of the order system is combined with the elements of folk architecture. Like many other buildings, erected at that time, the typical feature is successful use of the local shell rock, making the city colouring light.
