Quick Take:
Carey Dorn played earlier this year with the U.S. under-21 team on a tour of France.
Although a defender her entire college career, she played right flank midfield in the
CyberRays' first exhibition match against Beijing F.C. on March 11 and scored the first
competitive goal by the CyberRays in the seventh minute.
College:
Dorn was the mainstay of the Husky defense in her four years at UConn. She
played in 92 games, making 82 starts, recording six goals and eight assists for 20 points.
She was named second-team all-Big East Conference in 1998 and first team in 1999,
the same year she was named second-team all-American. In 1997 she helped the
Huskies to the final four and an upset of Notre Dame in the semifinals.
Personal:
Carey Jin Dorn. Born in Seoul, South Korea. Father Brooks is retired, mother
Paula is a high school teacher. Graduated from Connecticut in 2000 with a Bachelor of
Science in Sports Marketing. Was an academic all-American and won the Big East
Conference scholar-athlete award.
Why she's an athlete: ``I love pushing myself and continually improving. And I love
working with others to achieve common goals.''
Favorite soccer player: Roberto Carlos "because of his defensive tenacity and ability to
go forward and create opportunities."
Significance of the 1999 Women's World Cup: ``It made women's soccer a product
that not only soccer fans would buy into, but also sports fans, thereby allowing a
women's professional league to begin.''
Pre-game ritual: Puts left cleat on, then puts right cleat on.
Community activity: Habitat for Humanity.
What she would improve about herself: Grow taller.
