Cindy Parlow Cindy Parlow is a forward with the Atlanta Beat.

From dano: How do you like Atlanta? Do you plan on staying there all year round?
Cindy_Parlow: I love Atlanta and I just bought a house there so I'll be there for a while.

From TheresaWagnerFan: Just after your infamous game against Julie Foudy and San Diego, when asked to comment on how physical the league is, Julie half-jokingly cried out, "Atlanta's a bunch of thugs!" What do you think about her comment?
Cindy_Parlow: That was taken out of context. She said that on a show a while ago and was laughing about it.

From Beatfan25157: Do you like the WUSA experience better then the USWNT experience?
Cindy_Parlow: It is two completely different experiences. Anytime that I put on my National Team jersey it's truly an honor to represent my country. But with the Atlanta Beat I have a different role as more of a leader.

From Brooke from Wausau, WI: How did it feel to score the winning goal to make it in the championship game? Congratulations on making it.
Cindy_Parlow: Thanks. It was just pure excitement. It was unbelievable -- the drama that went into that shot -- It looked it was going in and then it hit the post and I thought it would come back out but it spun back in and hit the side netting.

From Kate in NJ: How do you feel about being the first person in the WUSA to get a red card?
Cindy_Parlow: It was quite a dubious honor.

From NatlTeamFan: You are known to be somewhat shy in interviews. Was it hard to become a founding player/leader for the Beat?
Cindy_Parlow: It definitely took me out of my comfort zone but now that I'm getting more used to it I'm really starting to enjoy it.

From Becky from Olympia, WA: Parlow, what will the 4-0 victory over the C'Rays in your last meeting do for the Beat psychologically coming into the finals? Good luck in Foxboro.
Cindy_Parlow: Thanks. It definitely gave us some confidence but we know that they didn't have all of their players on the field during that game so we know that when we face them on Saturday it'll be the strongest Bay Area team we have faced.

From nott18: What high school did you go to?
Cindy_Parlow: Germantown High near Memphis, Tennessee.

From CROCHA: What is the craziest thing you have gotten from a fan? And do you have an address for fan mail?
Cindy_Parlow: Any fan mail can be sent to the Atlanta Beat office. I haven't really gotten anything too crazy from a fan besides a ball thrown at my head.

From Marty3: Hello Cindy, What the most difficult aspect of playing in the WUSA?
Cindy_Parlow: Probably staying focused and on top of your game for the entire season.

From Kim from Bryson City, NC: Cindy... Hi! I'm an avid Beat fan. I attended all home games but two and I'm coming to Foxboro this weekend. The Beat fans know you will not be playing at Bobby Dodd next year, any idea where you will be? With the 2nd highest attendance in the league, do you foresee the chance of the Beat getting a dedicated soccer stadium? You guys have been a thrill to cheer for! Good luck!!
Cindy_Parlow: We are still looking for an appropriate stadium next year. Thanks for your support and see you in Foxboro!

From NatlTeamFan: If asked, are you going to try out for National Team again?
Cindy_Parlow: Yes, I'll be with them during the Nike Cup. We go into camp September 4th.

From nott18: What were the other cities you listed when you had to choose where you wanted to play in the WUSA?
Cindy_Parlow: I wanted to stay in the south. So I put Atlanta and DC and my third choice was Boston.

From TishaFan: Who do you think is the most underrated player in the WUSA?
Cindy_Parlow: Hmmm. Good question... I think the most underrated player on the Beat --- actually we have two -- they're Nikki Serlenga and Kylie Bivens.

From Red Stripe from Caldwell, Idaho: Cindy congrats on such a spectacular season with the Beat. What are your non-soccer plans for the offseason? Will you be in Atlanta or will you go back to Memphis or possibly up to Chapel Hill?
Cindy_Parlow: I plan on visiting all three cities. I will just be traveling and hanging out with friends and I'll continue to train.

from Kate in NJ: If the game on Saturday had gone into penalty kicks, what number would you have kicked?
Cindy_Parlow: I have no idea.

From Melissa from Ottawa, Ontario: Hey Cindy! What do you feel are the main reasons why you're having so much success in your career at such a young age and playing exceptionally at the level that you are at presently? Thanks and congrats on making the finals!
Cindy_Parlow: I've been very fortunate in that I have had great coaches at a young age and all the way through college and with the national team. And now with the Beat as well. And I guess a little bit of luck along the way has helped.

From nott18: What is the best moment you've ever had on the soccer field?
Cindy_Parlow: In college when I scored on a bicycle kick. I don't know who we were playing but it was the first time that I scored that way -- in practice or in a game.

From Em: Is there anybody you think should have had an invitation to go to the National Team training camp for the US Nike Cup but wasn't asked?
Cindy_Parlow: I don't know who was asked. I know April was trying to bring in a variety of people so I'm not quite sure. I think there are people who were injured and some people just needed a break from the game.

From nott18: Do you have any pets?
Cindy_Parlow: No

From Ceeps: Who are your favorite music groups or artists?
Cindy_Parlow: U2 and Dave Matthews Band

From meredithw01: What is your favorite color? U2 is the best!!
Cindy_Parlow: My favorite color is blue. All shades of blue.

From Em: Who do you think is the hardest keeper to score on in the WUSA?
Cindy_Parlow: Briana Scurry. I haven't scored on her yet!

From NatlTeamFan: I know it's way out there, but what will you be doing in 20 years?
Cindy_Parlow: 20 years? Goodness... I have no idea...hopefully retired from soccer and happy.

From Ahhh: Which National team do you hate playing the most?
Cindy_Parlow: I don't really hate playing anyone. I love playing the best teams because they give us the most competition. The top teams are Brazil, China, Germany and Norway.

From Kate in NJ: Do you have any pet peeves? If so what are they?
Cindy_Parlow: My pet peeves are rude and unappreciative people. And when people leave the toilet seat up. I grew up with 3 brothers so I got that a lot. That's probably it.

From Ceeps: What is your favorite movie? Do you like Adam Sandler movies?
Cindy_Parlow: My favorite movie is probably Shawshank Redemption and yes I do like Adam Sandler movies.

From NatlTeamFan: Do you have a favorite attack or do you just like to wait for opportunities to open up?
Cindy_Parlow: I just wait for the defense to show me something I guess.

From TrueMaster: Which girl group do you like the best TLC or Destiny's Child?
Cindy_Parlow: Probably TLC I guess. They're pretty much the same.

From Kate in NJ: 2 words: *Nsync or Backstreet?
Cindy_Parlow: *Nsync I guess. How do you tell them apart? They're pretty much the same.

From Brooke: What are you going to do to try and get around the CyberRays defense?
Cindy_Parlow: We're going to do a lot of things. We're going to dribble, we'll do combination plays, we'll do whatever it takes.

From nott18: What was your favorite game so far this season?
Cindy_Parlow: It has got to be the Philadelphia game.

From Beatfan25157: Which Augustyniak twin is nicer? I know Kylie said in her journals you said Nancy was evil and Julie was the nice one?
Cindy_Parlow: I said that Nancy is the mean twin, not evil. But they're both actually very sweet. It was just a joke.

From meredithw01: What was your favorite place to eat out when you were at UNC?
Cindy_Parlow: I had a few favorites. 411, Squids, and Armadillo Grill.

From Ahhh: Do You Think Bri will Ever Be Back On The National Team Again?
Cindy_Parlow: I think that decision is up to her. If she wants to be back on the National Team, I think she'll be given a tryout.

From CROCHA: What do you think your weakness is in soccer?
Cindy_Parlow: Gosh, so many... Heading (just kidding). I have a lot of weaknesses I think. Even the things I'm good at I still have to work on to get better. Probably my defense -- my 1 v 1 defending. That's why I play forward.

That's all the time we have tonight with Cindy Parlow. Thanks for your time Cindy. We enjoyed it.
Cindy_Parlow: Thank you.
