Soccer Tip: Jen Grubb

Posted: Tuesday September 04, 2001 2:04 PM

Jen Grubb Jen Grubb plays for the Washington Freedom.

One of the big ones especially with the young girls is teaching them how to head the ball.

The things that I emphasize the most are that you have to attack the ball. You can’t just stand there and let it hit you. Your power should come from your hips instead of just sticking your neck out. Get your arms up and out to the side to protect yourself rather than putting them across your chest. You need to keep them out so that if you are going up for a challenge you don’t get knocked totally off balance.
