Megan Horvath scored the golden goal against Brigham Young in the 2000 NCAA soccer playoffs that advanced the Santa Clara Broncos into the quarterfinals. She was a two-sport athlete at Carondelet High School in Danville, qualifying for the California state track meet in the 4x400-meter relay.

College:

Followed CyberRays teammate Jacqui Little as West Coast Conference freshman of the year. Scored the game-winning goal in her first college game against San Jose State in 1997. In a career in which her team three times made it to the NCAA final four, she scored game-winning goals in three NCAA tournament games. Most important event in her career other than WUSA: Scoring golden goal against Brigham Young in NCAA soccer tournament ``because it helped my team and me believe in ourselves, and it also made me feel I still `had it.' '' Significance of 1999 Women's World Cup: ``It helped get this league started.'' Game ritual: Always wears a bow in her hair. Community activity: Volunteering at Alzheimer's and convalescent hospitals. Read to Succeed program at Santa Clara. Three favorite foods: Cereal (any kind), pizza, Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream.
