National Team:
Burtini has scored 35 goals in 58 appearances for the Canadian National
Team. She made her debut on July 7, 1987 against Sweden. She has represented Canada in
the 1995 and 1999 World Cups. Burtini was named MVP of the 1998 CONCACAF
Championships after scoring a record 8 goals against Puerto Rico. Burtini also recorded hat-
tricks against Martinique and Guatemala to finish the tournament as top scorer with 14 goals.
Club:
As a member of the Raleigh Wings, Burtini helped her team to win the W-League
Championship in 1999 and to reach the final again in 2000.
Personal:
Silvana married Metro Gerela on January 1st, 2001…Her parents are Joe and
Cheryl Burtini… She has two brothers, Luciano and Monti, and two sisters, Nadia and
Gina…Silvana's hobbies include drawing, sketching, hanging out with her husband, and playing
with her two schnauzers.
