Going into the season, the Beat were expected to be strong. With allocations from the U.S. Women's National Team, Atlanta had received three of the top women's players in the world in Cindy Parlow, Briana Scurry and Nikki Serlenga.

The Beat only grew stronger from that point claiming top international stars, Charmaine Hooper -- a forward for the Canadian National Team -- and Homare Sawa, a captain of the Japanese National Team.

The Beat's attack is rounded out by FIFA's Co-Player of the Century and the first pick in the Global Draft, Sun Wen. The Beat, under Tom Stone, are talented in goal with Briana Scurry who has regained her form, have a very solid defense anchored by Canadian Sharolta Nonen, and are multi-faceted up front with Parlow, Hooper and Sun.

Hooper finished extremely strong for Atlanta, scoring five goals in the final two regular-season games. For the season and postseason, she scored 12 goals and assisted on three, giving her 27 points.
