Jennifer Mead has six caps with the U.S. national team, debuting against Canada indoors on June 21, 1993 at the Pontiac Silverdome. She started one game in 1993 and one in 1994, both against Trinidad & Tobago, and played against England in Portland on the 1997 Nike Victory Tour and on the USA's tour of Brazil in December of 1997. She has six caps.

College:

Mead played three years of soccer and four years of basketball at Providence College before transferring to George Mason for her final soccer season. At Providence she was named national goalkeeper of the near in 1993 and Big East Conference most valuable player. She transferred to George Mason for her final season, in which she was named all-American. Mead made 104 saves and registered a school-record 10.5 shutouts at George Mason. In 2000 she was assistant soccer coach at Louisville.

Reason she's an athlete: ``I guess I was born that way. I never made a conscious decision to be one.'' Earliest soccer memory: Wearing jeans under her soccer uniform. Favorite soccer player: Former Duke goalkeeper Gretchen Young, with whom she grew up, because ``I always wanted to have the courage she had in goal.''
