Barry Bonds, Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn and Rickey Henderson. Allsport

Star-crossed weekend

Years from now, when Barry Bonds, Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn and Rickey Henderson gather in Cooperstown, they will recall this October weekend when their stars aligned in unprecedented brilliance. Bonds has become the single-season home run king. Ripken, baseball's all-time Iron Man, will say goodbye in Saturday night's finale at Camden Yards. Gwynn will say his goodbyes Sunday in San Diego. And Henderson, who revolutionized the leadoff spot, has become the all-time runs leader and is one hit away from 3,000.
