CodeProject - May 2000 Web Resource of the Month
May 2000 by Tom Archer

The Code Project is a relatively new site for Windows programmers. The Code Project is about free source code and tutorials, and is dedicated to helping those IT professionals who have freely donated their own time and resources to helping others.

The site contains hundreds of free code snippets and tutorials ranging from simple "how-to" articles all the way up to commercial quality components that can be plugged into your applications and used free of charge. It is highly interactive and allows articles to be rated, with each article also having a discussion area that allows developers to discuss the article, send in suggestions, or notify others of improvements or bugs.

While mainly catering to the Visual C++/MFC crowd, the site is constantly expanding and aims to offer a comprehensive online resource for all your Windows DNA needs. The site itself is taking an "open source" approach by making available to the community the very scripts that drive the site! This allows developers to build their own sites with a minimum of effort using a proven model, as well as allowing developers to send in their updates and modifications to the site building scripts. This all servers to make The Code Project a true community effort.

Chris Maunder manages The Code Project and does much of the site programming as well. In addition to him, Code Project is also run by Uwe Keim (script writer), Cristi Posea (design and admin support) and two long-time contributors to the CodeGuru site (Valerie Bradley and Ravi Bhavnani) who provide their technical expertise in the editing of submitted articles.

For those of you that have been around CodeGuru for a while, you'll certainly remember Chris as it was he who was instrumental in making CodeGuru as popular as it is today. Chris ran CodeGuru from 1997 until 1999 and when the site was sold to EarthWeb last year, he set out to start what is now Code Project.

For their accomplishments, CodeGuru congratulates Chris and the whole gang and wishes them continued success! From what we've seen thus far, Chris has turned out another winner!

The Code Project - Site of the month

The CodeProject is a relatively new web site but it has some pretty amazing content. It's primarily for the Microsoft crowd of programmers and contains a large quantity of articles and source code ranging from ATL to Windows API (Is there an acronym from Microsoft that starts with a Z?) and everything in between. I particularly like the layout and the easy navigation of this site, which makes finding the information you're looking for quick and simple. This is definitely a site to watch and certainly worthy of DevSearcher's 3 stars.

The Code Project - Tech sighting of the Day
Thursday - 30/Mar/2000 by Tina Gasperson

The Code Project is a Windows developer site that provides free code, free help, and lots of news about Microsoft doings.

If you're a Windows developer, you're going to love this site. The Code Project is a big undertaking, and well done. Whether it's multimedia, new technology, Internet, user interface, controls, or scripting, there are plenty of resources to choose from. And that's just the source code.

Of course, there are lots of news headlines, including a recent blurb about the possible existence of Windows 2001, under the beta code name Whistler.

There's also an e-mail newsletter, and users can submit their own source code and helpful tips. One thing that's noticeably absent: a message forum, although a la Slashdot, visitors can post their comments about news articles.
