Gôong fòo [power, strength / ?] - skill, work, knowledge, technique; used for the martial arts in the USA, but not used with this exclusive meaning in China. Gung lik see: goong liHk Gurk see: geuk Gwaat sáo [scrape / hand, arm] - scraping hand technique, as near end of syooH lim tao form. GwaiH jàng [kneel down / elbow] - elbow strike, horizontal elbow strike; the bend of the elbow is said to resemble the bend of the knee when kneeling. GwaiH shat [kneel down / ?] - foot sweep counter, press down knee on attempted sweep. Gwak seuHt [nation / art] - a term for the martial arts. Gwáng jò [? / ?] - Canton; sometimes called in Chinese the "goat city." Gwo sáo [surpass, pass by, come near, go by / hand, arm] - fighting practice [in chee sáo]. Gwoy jarn see: gwaiH jàng Gwun máH [pole / stance]. Gwun sáo see: kwan sáo Gyeuk see: geuk Gyóon [school, training hall, gym, institute]. |
