Napster to go subscription only this summer |
Neobond |
|
| | German-based record company Bertelsman AG announced today that it could launch its Napster-based subscription download service as early as July. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Bertelsman CEO Thomas Midelhoff touted "I’n convinced we can introduce in June or July of this year a subscription model, with a real working digital rights management system." While no one with the record company or with Napster could say how much the service might cost, it is rumored to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $5, not too shabby if you take into account how many files you could download in a month. But that is contigent on Napster not losing its user-base due to the fee.

Microsoft re-posts Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 |
Neobond |
|
| | Microsoft decided to pull it's popular web browser "Internet Explorer" version 5.5 SP1 after a string of DoS attacks and server outages a few days ago, it is presumed by many that the reason behind it was to give the servers that supplied Internet Explorer a breather so that tech's could find out what was going on. whether the re-post has been updated is a mystery. The version number reads: 5.50.4522.1800IC and Windows Update reported that it wasnt yet installed on my system, even though mine read IE5.5 SP1 (I forgot to write down the version number, duh!) Internet Explorer Page also has been re-updated as supplying this browser.

Microsoft Tells Appeals Court Breakup Not Justified |
Neobond |
|
| | Microsoft handed in the final filing in its antitrust case appeal, a 75-page document that replies to the government's earlier filing, which reiterated that the company violated U.S. antitrust laws and needs to be broken up. In addition to its standard arguments--in which the company didn't violate the law by illegally bundling products--Microsoft says that it has other reasons to believe that it will prevail against the Justice Department: It notes that Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson, who oversaw the case, has bad-mouthed the company repeatedly in interviews since last year, an indication that the judge was not impartial. And Microsoft says that it detects subtle concessions from the DOJ in its filing, concessions that suggest that the government's case isn't as sound as it appears.

Tweaking Windows 2000 Review |
Neobond |
|
I was bored so I wrote a new review to replace the dated one I was going to place on the site.
This review focuses on making Windows 2000 run as fast as Windows 98/ME enabling you to play 3D games on a quicker more stable system with no "hidden" stuff going on in the background while you try to get all your resources focused on the 'heat of the moment'
Is your system multiboot because you think Windows 2000 is a bloated pig? Well you're probably right, and we intend to help you gain some speed in your resource hungry system
Read my review here
Let me know if it helped =) here
