Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 ReleasedIt's officialPosted by Chris Maunder on 30 Jul 2000 It's official - Service Pack 1 for Windows 2000 is here. Yesterday's SP1 chase: Gert Boddaert wrote in that ArsTechnica have announced that Windows 2000 SP1 is out - kind of. Microsoft have posted a KB article on the patch - see Microsoft for details. Three download links have been provided here, here or here. Gert has written in and reported further information at Microsoft's site: SP1 enhances the overall reliability of Windows 2000 and features easier and more robust mechanisms for applying Service Packs to Windows. There is a further link that discusses the service pack, but as yet none of the links on the page have been activated. In the meantime you can download and install the pack at your own risk! Just in from WinInfo: I'm receiving reports from people that SP1 breaks programs like ZoneAlarm and BlackIce. If you are using one of these programs, you'll need to disable them to get online or, in the case of ZoneAlarm, reduce your zone security setting for the Internet to "Medium" (this is in Internet Properties), which isn't a particularly elegant solution, I admit.See Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for a complete writeup.
