XENIA: Under construction.
XENOPHILIA: Love of the foreign or
unfamiliar. In the 1990s, there was a marked preoccupation in criticism and curatorial practices to valorize everything but the practices of DWMs -- i.e., works by women, non-whites and the dispossessed.
In a Toronto Globe and Mail article of Dec. 13, 1993, John
Bentley Mays used the word "xenophilia" to describe this love of
the other accompanied by what he say as a wilful lack of interest
in the works of white males of European descent. See political correctness, xenophobia.
XENOPHOBIA: Irrational fear or hatred of
anything foreign or unfamiliar, especially other social or ethnic groups. See also xenophilia.
XEROGRAPHY: Under construction.
